Notes on FTL and Power

F.T.L. travel takes one week in hyperspace regardless of the distance travelled. The maximum speed available is jump-6. There are jump nodes wich connect various sectors of space at vast distances and these are usually sector captials. Scientists still don’t know how the jump nodes work and are studying them intensly. These jump nodes are rare and historically the focal point of much space combat. Jump fuel is hydrogen (water) pumped from planetary oceans and refined or skimmed from gas giants. Reaction drives are powered with gravity platers or hydrogen dependent upon where the ship will be. Exploration vessels commonly have both, merchants use gravity plates while the military tends towards hydrogen. Power plants are usually fusion, with older fission plants still used in less advanced or cheaper ships and worlds. Anti-Matter is not available, but rumors of Imperial experimentation run rampant.
